Buyer Beware: USS Enterprise Model Facebook Ad – A Disappointing Experience

Posted by a Concerned Star Trek Fan

As a lifelong Star Trek enthusiast, I was thrilled when I came across a Facebook advertisement showcasing what appeared to be an officially licensed, large-scale model of the USS Enterprise. The promotional video displayed a beautifully detailed replica, complete with side lighting effects and accurate markings—exactly like the ship seen in iconic intro scenes from the series.

The ad was convincing and professionally made. As you can see in the actual Facebook video below, it promised a full-scale, pre-assembled collector’s item that looked almost life-size from the angles shown:

Excited by what I saw, I placed an order for $79.89 USD, expecting a premium display model. However, what I received was far from what was advertised. The model was smaller, unpainted, missing decals and detail markings, and had no lighting or other promised features. It felt more like a cheaply made knockoff than a licensed collector’s item.

The transaction on my PayPal record listed the seller as:

  • Merchant: TNT POD Fashion
  • Product: U.S.S. Enterprise 1:350 Scale Set Prop Replica Model with lights
  • Product ID: 2652734_1748513156.2345679

In my opinion, this is a clear case of false advertising and deceptive marketing. I have initiated a PayPal dispute and am requesting a full refund for what I believe to be a fake product.

Final Thoughts

If you’re considering buying one of these models after seeing the ad, please think twice. Make sure to research the seller, verify licensing, and always use payment methods with buyer protection like PayPal.
